Have plans for November? You do now.

UPDATE: because of the vacation period we extend the deadline until Aug 27!

It is not easy to plan what to do in autumn with summer in its peak. We know. But this time, it is worth it: coming up November 7-8 in Sarajevo, BiH is the community boost_r camp -- an initiative to bring the entire regional community together again. If you are an activist working in the transparency and accountability and open government field, eager to learn how to better play with data, then well. You have to be there.

The community boost_r camp builds upon the experience from the last year’s conference in Sarajevo.

IT IS REGIONAL

This year’s event is organized by Fundacja TechSoup (TechSoup Europe) and Zasto ne (BiH) in partnership with Dokukino (Serbia) and thanks to support from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. The camp is a regional event organized for activists from 5 Western Balkans countries: BiH, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia.

WE FOCUS ON DATA

The event’s main theme will be DATA: open data, data in advocacy and in accountability projects, open government data. We will talk about

  • understanding data
  • obtaining it and making it useful (Freedom of Information requests, data journalism, data scraping and cleaning)
  • talking about it once we have it (data visualization and infographics)

A detailed agenda is coming up soon!

IT IS A CAMP

Both days of the community boost_r camp will be all about sharing your experience and learning from others. The camp follows an unconference scheme which means that the agenda is mostly be up to you. There will be plenty of opportunities for hands-on interventions, mentoring talks and workshops. Many important things will most likely happen “in between” the sessions -- in a corridor, over a coffee or during one of the evening parties.

Think about what you’d like to learn or share and let us know, we will do our best to include it in the timeline. The best thing is though, you don’t even need to think ahead. Ideas can pop into your head when at the event -- we will still have time booked for exploring those.

A list of international specialists who will advise and inspire you during key note speeches and workshops is still to be confirmed. We are in the process of inviting representatives of the best regional and international experts.

Because of the international guests and the dynamic of camp, the working language of the event will be English.
